Codling moth research in Croatia

چکیده

Codling moth is the most important pest in apple production worldwide. The has developed resistance to several chemical groups of insecticides, which makes its control much more difficult. Therefore, special attention being paid environmentally friendly protective measures, and research also conducted on innovative methods monitor this pest. In review, a cross-section codling Croatia was made. results alternative are presented, as well for monitoring early detection resistant populations. Regular populations necessary allows timely application strategies successful

Codling moth management and chemical ecology.

Lepidopteran insects use sex pheromones to communicate for mating. Olfactory communication and mate-finding can be prevented by permeating the atmosphere with synthetic pheromone. Pheromone-mediated mating disruption has become a commercially viable pest management technique and is used to control the codling moth, Cydia pomonella, a key insect pest of apple, on 160,000 ha worldwide. The codlin...

Resistance Management Update on Organophosphate Resistance in Codling Moth

In 2003, organophosphate (Guthion) resistance was surveyed in codling moth from populations throughout Washington State. Populations were collected using pheromone traps during first and second flights from apple and pear and sampled for Guthion resistance using the standard adult topical bioassay. Select populations were also sampled for pyrethroid and chloronicotinyl resistance. All orchards ...

Classical Biological Control of Codling Moth: the California Experience

Codling moth is a notorious fruit-boring pest that has extended its original distribution from the natural apple forests of Central Asia to cover all apple growing regions of the world. Having been discovered in California as early as 1872, codling moth has continued to be the dominant pest of apple, pear and walnut production causing extensive damage in the absence of insecticide treatment. In...

Evaluation of Alternative Pheromone Dispensing Technologies for Codling Moth

Two new types of hand-applied pheromone dispensers, “meso-emitters”, were developed in collaboration with Suterra that increased the pheromone release rate per dispenser and decreased the number of dispensers per acre to only 12. Realized emission rates per dispenser only achieved 15-33% of the desired release rate. Further modifications are planned for 2007 to increase these release rates. In ...
